PORVORIM: Police have registered a case against a 32-year-old motorcyclist for rash and negligent driving after his KTM bike allegedly collided with another two-wheeler on the Mandovi Bridge, leaving the rider injured.
The incident occurred on September 3 around 9.15 pm when the accused, Zahir Shaikh, son of Adam Shaikh, resident of Sanquelim and Ramnagar-Betim, was riding a KTM (GA-07-AJ-7383) towards Panaji via the Old Mandovi Bridge. Police said he rode recklessly and hit a Honda Dio scooter (GA-07-AE-3665) ridden by Prasad Sawant of Kumbharjua, who fell along with his scooter and sustained injuries to his right hip.
Based on the complaint, Porvorim Police registered the case as Crime No. 84/2025 under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Further investigation is in progress, police said.
