Canacona: A motorcyclist identified as Adarsh Pujari lost his life in a road accident late on Tuesday night after his bike collided with a stray animal at Dapot, Mashem, Canacona.
Police said they received a call from the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, at around 3:59 a.m. on Wednesday, informing that a person had been brought dead as a case of road accident.
During inquiry, the pillion rider, Rounak Chawla, informed police that he and the deceased had visited Tantra Café, Patnem, for dinner around 10:00 p.m. on October 28. While returning towards Karwar on their Royal Enfield motorcycle, a stray cattle suddenly appeared on the road, leading to a collision.
Pujari sustained grievous injuries and succumbed on the spot. An inquest panchanama was conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. The police surgeon certified the cause of death as “cranio-cerebral damage consequent to blunt force impact,” which was necessarily fatal.
The body has since been handed over to the family for final rites.
