Margao: A road accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist late on the night of July 18 when he allegedly rode his bike in a rash and negligent manner, ultimately colliding with an oncoming truck near Calvaddo bypass road, Navelim.
According to a complaint lodged by Head Constable Minguel Vaz (HC 5709) of Margao Town Police Station, the accident occurred at around 11:45 p.m. The deceased has been identified as Prasanna Kumar Behara, a native of Odisha, residing at Sernabatim, Colva.
Behara was riding his motorcycle recklessly, endangering his own safety, police said. Upon reaching Calvaddo bypass road, he crashed into an oncoming truck, suffering grievous injuries. He succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.
Following the incident, an inquest panchanama was conducted and the body was sent for post-mortem examination at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao. The police surgeon confirmed the cause of death as “Damage to chest, abdomen, spine, and right upper limb consequent to blunt force impact.”
The body was later handed over to the family for final rites. PSI Sanjay Velip of Margao Town Police Station is leading the investigation.
