MORMUGAO: In a significant development for Goa’s maritime sector, Mormugao Port is set to restart its container handling operations after a gap of seven years. The first container vessel, SCI Mumbai, is expected to dock at the port on November 20, announced Vishnu Prasad, Senior Business Development Manager at Delta Ports’ Mormugao Terminal.
The revival of container services marks an important step in enhancing the port’s trade efficiency and competitiveness. Officials believe the move will attract new business opportunities, improve cargo movement, and strengthen Mormugao’s position as a key logistics hub within India’s maritime network.
With upgraded facilities and a renewed focus on modernization, the port aims to provide seamless connectivity for both domestic and international trade. Industry stakeholders expressed optimism that the resumption will spur economic growth, benefiting regional commerce and contributing to the broader national trade ecosystem.
