New Delhi: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face a significant hurdle in the IPL 2025 season as captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has been sidelined due to an elbow injury. This unfortunate turn of events has led to the return of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as captain, a role he last held when leading CSK to their fifth IPL title in 2023.
Gaikwad’s injury, sustained during a match against the Rajasthan Royals on March 30, has forced him to withdraw from the tournament. Despite playing through pain, he ultimately could not continue, leaving CSK in a precarious position as they struggle at the bottom of the league table with only two points from five matches. In a video message shared on social media, Gaikwad expressed his disappointment about missing the rest of the season and voiced his trust in Dhoni’s leadership.
As CSK prepares for its upcoming match, the combination of Dhoni’s experience and Gaikwad’s enthusiasm for supporting the team may prove vital in their efforts to break free from this losing streak.
