Verna: Verna Police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving following a multi-vehicle accident near Quadros Open Air Hall on the Western Bypass Road at Verna, which left several persons injured.
According to police, the case was registered on the basis of a state complaint filed by ASI Paresh Fal Desai of Verna Police Station. The incident occurred on February 6, 2026, at around 8.35 pm near Quadros Open Air Hall on the Western Bypass Road, Verna.
Police said the accused driver of a Wagon R car, identified as Elias Antonio, a resident of Corlim, Tiswadi, was proceeding from Pirni junction, Verna, towards the Margao side. On reaching near Quadros Open Air Hall, the accused allegedly drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and suddenly took a U-turn without taking proper care and precaution to return towards Pirni junction.
As a result, a Skoda car travelling from the Margao side towards Pirni junction collided with the Wagon R. Due to the impact, the Skoda car reportedly overturned and further collided with a Honda Activa scooter and a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle.
The accident resulted in injuries to the rider of the Honda Activa, Ashutosh Kumar, a resident of Mangoor Hill, Vasco, the accused driver himself, occupants of the Wagon R identified as Romaulina Silveira and Michel Natalina Fernandes, both residents of Corlim, Tiswadi, as well as the Skoda car driver Menino Jesus D’Costa, a resident of 4th Ward, Colva, and his occupant Anil Dongalkar, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Vasco.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by ASI Paresh Fal Desai of Verna Police Station.
