Mumbai: Security has been tightened across Mumbai after the traffic police control room received a WhatsApp threat claiming that 14 terrorists had entered the city with 400 kg of RDX and planted explosives in 34 vehicles. The message also mentioned the name of an organisation called ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’, officials said on Friday.
The threat comes ahead of Anant Chaturthi, the final day of the Ganesh festival, when lakhs of devotees gather for the grand visarjan processions.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch, along with the ATS and other agencies, has launched a probe to trace the source of the message. Meanwhile, security has been enhanced at key locations, and combing operations are being carried out across the city.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to stay calm, avoid spreading rumours, and immediately report any suspicious activity.
