CANACONA: In a late evening brawl over construction of illegal house dispute in 20 points program plots at Poinguinim, one Santosh Sadanand Rivonkar, 43, died while another person Rohan Naik sustained injuries is under treatment at South Goa District Hospital Margao on Sunday.
Information reveals that while Santosh Revankar was proceeding on his motorbike to his home in Poinguinim, Rohan Naik, who was also proceeding to his home in Partagal reportedly intercepted Santosh while crossing the forest gate at Bhatpal on NH66 road and over previous enmity.
Initially a verbal fight ensued between the two but soon both were involved in a physical brawl.
In the melee Santosh collapsed.
The fight reportedly ensued for quite a long time on the NH66 road at Bhatpal, reveals the information so far.
Collapsed Santosh Revonkar, 43 in an unconscious state was rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead at about 8 pm.
Rohan Naik who is reportedly had also some injuries on him, was also brought to CHC and after providing first-aid was shifted to Sough-Goa District Hospital (SGDH) Margao on Sunday night itself.
According to Canacona PI Harish Raut Dessai, a murder case under section 302 IPC is registered against Rohan Naik and police are conducting further investigation into the death of Satosh Revonkar.
“A preliminary panchanama is conducted and a case of murder under section 302 IPC is registered against Rohan Naik and the accused is placed under arrest,” said PI adding Postmortem is being conducted today, and we are awaiting post-mortem report for conduct of further investigation.
According to sources, postmorterm report is considered as crucial in the police investigation of the murder of Santosh Revonkar as there are claims and counter claims that the deceased has suffered Heart Attack during the scuffle and also the deceased had a fall on a hard object and died instantly.
Sources further informed that deceased Santosh Revankar is a complainant over an alleged illegal construction of a house in the plots of 20-Points program at Poinguinim where he resides.
Based on his complaint house of one policemen Sagar Morajkar is sealed by village panchayat recently.
Rohan Naik is reportedly a close friend of the policeman whose house was sealed, used to often engage in argument with the deceased complainant.
