Canacona: Minister for Art & Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs and Tribal Welfare Ramesh Tawadkar said his ambition is to make Canacona taluka a job-providing taluka, reiterating his dream of creating a prosperous and self-reliant Canacona.
Tawadkar was speaking at the “Women and Youth Empowerment” programme organised at Adarsh-gram, Amone–Poinguinim, by the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation under the concepts of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa. The programme witnessed a large participation of women and youth from the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Tawadkar said, “The people of Canacona themselves will resolve the problems of Canacona. My dream is to create a prosperous Canacona. My ambition is to make Canacona taluka a job-providing taluka. I am always striving to ensure the progress of the constituency. It is my duty to provide a platform even to the most ordinary women and youth. I am committed to ensuring that every person in Canacona becomes economically and socially empowered.”
Earlier, Tawadkar inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of South Goa Zilla Panchayat Chairman Siddharth Gawas Desai, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation Gokhale, and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, South Goa Zilla Panchayat Chairman Siddharth Desai said, “My role model in politics is Ramesh Tawadkar. His ideas and concepts are society-oriented. The way he has preserved art and culture is highly commendable.”
Poinguinim Zilla Panchayat member Ajay Lolayekar said that under Tawadkar’s leadership, Canacona is on the path of progress and that he enjoys the support and blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Nisha Chari said women’s groups always receive encouragement and guidance from Tawadkar and are eagerly awaiting the preparations for the upcoming Lokotsav festival.
Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar highlighted the importance of women taking the initiative in instilling proper values and principles in children during their formative years.
The programme was compered by Siddhi Upadhyay. The welcome address was delivered by Savita Tawadkar, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Adarsh Yuwa Sangh President Chandrakant Velip. The event received an enthusiastic response from women and youth participants.
Later, keynote speakers and resource persons briefed the audience on various government schemes, subsidies, low-interest loans and other facilities available for women and youth to build careers and secure a better future. The resource persons included entrepreneur Sneha Bhagwat, Rupa from the Women and Child Development Department, Clara Rodrigues from EDC, Tribal Welfare Department Deputy Director Sagar Verlekar, Education Department Deputy Director Reshma Chanekar, and Deepali Naik from DRDA.
