CAVELLOSSIM: The death of 64-year-old Teofolio Cardozo has left the local community alarmed after his body was discovered inside a well near his residence on Thursday morning.
Residents are calling for a thorough investigation to determine whether foul play was involved. The Colva police, however, have stated that the post-mortem report will provide clarity on the exact cause of death.
Cardozo’s passing has sparked suspicion after he was found with a nylon rope around his neck and a chair inside the well. Villagers are questioning if he was harmed before ending up in the well.
Colva police station in-charge PI Diego Gracias said, “We have registered a case of unnatural death. The post-mortem, scheduled for Friday, will reveal the cause, and further inquiries will follow based on its findings.”
A forensic team visited the site to collect evidence and assist in the investigation.
A senior police officer added that the main focus of the inquiry is to determine whether Cardozo was killed before being placed in the well or if drowning was the cause of death.
