PANAJI: Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho today said that a resolution has been passed making it mandatory that 30 percent plots be given to women entrepreneurs.
Industries Minister, Mauvin Godinhoattended the National MSME Workshop at Miramar, organized by ASSOCHAM in collaboration with MSME-DFO, Goa State, under the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India.
“We will promote women in business; have passed resolution that 30 percent plots of IDC to be given to women entrepreneurs, NABARD, MSME officers should help rural entrepreneurs of Goa,” said Godinho
He further said that there is need for more women entrepreneurs. If you get one women forward, she will get another 2-3 other persons.
“In last board meeting, I made it sure and passed a resolution that 30 percent of the plots should be alloted to women entrepreneurs as far as smaller plots are considered,” he added
Godhinho said that Goa’s industrial landscape is evolving beyond tourism, with a thriving MSME sector driving growth.
“The government remains committed to fostering an environment that enables businesses to scale effectively. Key policies, including Industrial, Logistics & Warehousing, and IDC reforms, have been introduced to simplify processes and enhance transparency,” said Mauvin
“A special emphasis has been placed on empowering women entrepreneurs, with 30% of small plots in industrial estates reserved for them,” he added
Minister said that financial and technological support is crucial for MSMEs to flourish. Agencies like NABARD and SIDBI must proactively facilitate access to microfinance, R&D, and digital tools. With two airports, national highways, and expanding port infrastructure, Goa has the potential to emerge as a major trading hub.
“Startups and innovation remain at the heart of our vision. By strengthening a business-friendly ecosystem, we aim to position Goa as a powerhouse for industry, trade, and entrepreneurship,” he added
