PANAJI: Navelim Villagers Union emerged champions of the United Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Cuncolim Union in the final held at the Rosary Church Ground, Navelim. The tournament was organized by the United Club of Telaulim.
The decisive goal came in the 29th minute, courtesy of Ronaldo Pereira, whose strike secured the title for Navelim Sporting Club and earned him the First Goal of the Final and Man of the Final awards.
The final was graced by distinguished guests, with former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao serving as Chief Guest. He distributed the prizes in the presence of Valanka Alemao, Chairperson of the AIFF Women’s Football Committee; Rev. Fr. Gabriel Coutinho, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim; Rev. Fr. Valentine Alvares, Chaplain of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel, Telaulim; Rev. Fr. Dylon D’Costa, Assistant Parish Priest, Navelim; Edwin Cardozo, Zilla Panchayat Member; Michael Cardozo, Sarpanch of Navelim; Netty Coelho, Panch; Kedar Jagdale of Royal Builders & Developers; Prakash Dessai, Ex-GFA Member; Anthony Barbosa, Chairman of Tiatr Academy; and other dignitaries including Anthony Pires, Alister Ferrao, and Romeo Gomes.
