CANACONA: In a dramatic turn of events, Dr. Deepak Sondhi, a Navi Mumbai-based doctor, has filed a police complaint against a family from Dapot-Maxem for trespassing on a bungalow he has been in possession of for over a year, and for allegedly assaulting his staff.
According to a report from the Canacona Police, the incident occurred on April 13, 2025, when Savio Wency Carneiro, Julie Carneiro, and other unnamed individuals forcibly entered the bungalow at Dapot, Maxem. Dr. Sondhi, who had made a payment of Rs. 43,00,000to Julie Carneiro as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the property, claims that the accused trespassed into the bungalow and forcibly evicted his manager, Ajay Singh Sanger, and other workers appointed by him to maintain the property. The accused then allegedly took possession of the bungalow and barred Dr. Sondhi’s staff from entering.
The Canacona police have booked Savio Wency Carneiro, Julie Carneiro, and others under Section 329 BNS 2023 for trespassing and assaulting the complainant’s staff. The case is being investigated by PSI Vishal L. Velip** of the Canacona Police Station.
This is the latest development in an ongoing property dispute involving Dr. Sondhi. Earlier, in March 2025 Dr. Sondhi had also lodged a complaint regarding a fraudulent property sale. According to his complaint, between December 2022and March 2025, Julie Carneiro, Flora, and Savio Carneiro, all residents of Loliem, Canacona, falsely claimed ownership of a bungalow and surrounding land in Loliem. They allegedly induced Dr. Sondhi to pay Rs. 1.26 crore with the promise of selling the property to him.
Dr. Sondhi later discovered that the property did not belong to the accused, prompting him to file another police complaint. As a result, an FIR was filed under Section 318 r/w 3(5)of the BNS Act, accusing the trio of fraud.
The complex nature of the dispute involving multiple parties and overlapping legal claims has caught the attention of the local community. As investigations continue, the outcome of these cases could have significant implications for property rights and ownership claims in the region.
