CANACONA: The first time ever youngest women sarpanch of Agonda Village Panchayat Prettal Fernandes is ousted in the No Confidence Motion(NCM) moved against by 4 of the Seven Panch Members.
Under the presidentship of Canacona BDO deputed Extension officer Sushant Lolyekar, the NCM was taken up in the special meeting held in the panchcyat office in the presence of Agonda VP Secretary Amol K Naikgaunkar and Canacona BDO Extension Officer Biva Velip.
Two out of seven Panch members including Sarpanch Prettal Fernandes were absent, while her Dy. Sarpanch Karuna Phaldessai alongwith the 4 NCM signatories ( Group leader Nilesh Pagui, Ex-Sarpanch Fatima Rodgrigues, Ramnath Velip and Canisha Fernandes) were seated when NCM was taken up for Voting. Since none from the present 5-panch members opposed the NCM, presiding officer Sushant Lolayekar declared the NCM is passed.
This means Sarpanch Prettal Fernandes is voted out unanimously with Prettal herself and another panch John Fernandes remained absent.
Even as the date for appointment of new sarpanch is yet to be declared/awaited, order to appoint new sarpanch is expected from within this week itself, or at the beginning of next week.
Dhaval-Khazan, a coastal ward of the village Nilesh G Pagui is likely to be elected as new sarpanch, and if everything goes as planned by the majority group of panch members, Nilesh will be the second coastal area panch to occupy the chair of Sarpanch of Agonda in the current term after Fatima Rodrigues.
Interestingly, sarpanch Prettal Fernandes attended the office-work and reportedly signed some files of the developmental works which she pursued during her tenure on Monday, as last working day.
