PORVOPIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Friday that starting with the 2024–2025 academic year, the State government will be implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for Std IX.
“A meeting was arranged to deliberate on the implementation of NEP in Goa. It has been decided to start implementing NEP with Standard IX. In light of this, three new subjects—vocational studies, interdisciplinary studies, and art—will be offered. It has been decided to offer instruction for courses that are vocational in nature and do not have instructors,” Sawant stated.
Only in August, after the teachers have received the necessary training, will these courses begin to be taught. The lack of teachers will cause issues for two months. The schools will receive an interdisciplinary course syllabus that has been prepared. SCERT will be used to appoint art teachers, he continued.
The Director of Higher Education and the Education Secretary “will brief school headmasters properly,” according to the Chief Minister. We kindly ask everyone to continue cooperating. NEP will aid in the implementation in the upper classes if it is put into practice starting this year, according to Sawant.
According to the Chief Minister, the topic of primary, secondary, and upper secondary schools was discussed at the meeting, and it was decided that 180 teachers would be hired.
He stated, “It has been decided to establish SCERT as an autonomous body, and priority will be given to resolving the outstanding issues.”
Released in July 2020, the National Education Policy (NEP) places equal emphasis on students’ overall development—which encompasses both skill and personality development—as well as education.
