PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed us that National Education Policy (NEP) would be implemented for higher education for the next academic year.
CM Sawant this afternoon chaired a meeting with the Directorate of Education officials to discuss the implementation of NEP.
“National Education Policy (NEP) will be implemented for higher education for next academic year,” said CM Sawant.
The new education policy proposes a new curricular and pedagogical structure, with a 5+3+3+4 design covering the children in the age group 3 to 18 years. Under this, there are five years of the Foundational Stage: 3 years of pre-primary school and Grades I and II.
As per the current education system, Nursery, Lower KG, and Upper KG are under the pre-primary category, while the primary includes Class I to IV.
The policy aims to universalise pre-primary education (age range of 3 to 6 years) by 2025 and provide foundational literacy and numeracy for all by the same year.
