New Delhi: Nepal witnessed fresh waves of protests on Tuesday, with demonstrators resorting to stone-pelting and street marches for the second consecutive day, prompting authorities to impose curfews in several parts of the country, including the capital Kathmandu.
The unrest follows the KP Sharma Oli government’s decision to lift a ban on social media, which has sparked widespread dissent. Tensions deepened as two cabinet ministers resigned since Monday, amid growing calls for the Prime Minister’s ouster.
In a major flashpoint, protestors vandalised the residence of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, popularly known as Prachanda, further intensifying the political crisis.
