CALANGUTE: A man hailing from Nepal was found dead in his rented room in Calangute on Wednesday afternoon, prompting an unnatural death investigation by local police.
The deceased has been identified as Yoges Chamling, a native of Sundarharaicha, Morang, Nepal, and residing at House No. 4/248, Prabhu Waddo, behind McDonald’s, Calangute, Bardez, Goa. The incident came to light around 11:30 a.m., when Chamling’s roommate, Balram Dalai, noticed that he was unresponsive and immediately alerted the landlord, Nitesh Vengurlekar, who in turn informed the police.
Officials from Calangute Police Station, led by PSI Saieel Vaigankar, reached the scene at approximately 2:08 p.m. Upon examination and inquiry, it was revealed that the deceased was reportedly an alcoholic, and had last been seen going to bed the previous night, on June 4.
Police conducted a scene-cum-occurrence Panchanama and inquest Panchanama, after which the body was sent for preservation at GMC Morgue, Bambolim for medico-legal formalities.
A case of Unnatural Death (UD No. 34/2025) under Section 194 of the BNSS has been registered. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
