QUEPEM: Police arrested a man of Nepali origin after he was allegedly found in illegal possession of cannabis worth around ₹25,000 during a raid at Devumol, Sirvoi, on Monday evening.
According to Quepem Police, the accused, Sawan Chan, a resident of Ghanemorod, Xeldem-Quepem and native of Bajhang, Nepal, was caught between 6.30 pm and 8.21 pm with 295 gms of greenish leafy substance with flowering and fruiting tops suspected to be ganja.
Based on the state complaint lodged by LPSI Rifha Barretto, the offence was registered under Crime No. 48/2025 for violation of Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act.
The accused was arrested on the spot and later remanded to two days of police custody. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Somesh Prabhudessai of Quepem Police Station.
