REIS MAGOS: A 57-year-old fisherman from Nerul, Francis Lobo, tragically drowned while fishing off the coast of Reis Magos on Sunday evening.
Porvorim Police received an alert from the Candolim Primary Health Centre after Lobo was brought in dead by a 108 ambulance. PSI Pratik Tulaskar and his team visited the health centre and confirmed the victim’s identity.
Investigations revealed that Lobo was casting his fishing net at Reis Magos Beach when he accidentally became entangled in it and was pulled into the water. Locals at the scene managed to retrieve him from the sea and transported him to the health centre, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police conducted a panchanama and sent the body to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, for autopsy. No foul play is suspected at this stage. Further inquiries are underway under the supervision of PSI Tulaskar.
