PANAJI: According to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, schools will resume on the dates that the Education Department has set.
“Schools will reopen as per the date declared by the Education Department,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant
The Directorate of Education has declared that all government, government-aided, and unaided recognized schools in the state shall begin the new academic year for Classes 6 through 10 and Grade 12 on April 1st, 2025–2026.
Shailesh Sinai Zingde, the director of education, announced in a circular that these grades’ lessons will take place in April till 11:30 a.m.
After May 1–June 3, students will enjoy their summer break. On June 4, 2025, classes will resume as usual.
However, a large number of parents around the state are opposing this. The irate parents recently demonstrated at the Directorate of Education, Porvorim, demanding that the decision to reopen the schools on April 1, 2025, be immediately revoked, accusing the Goa government of forcing its “diktats” on them.
Some parents have challenged the Education Department’s decision in a writ petition filed in the High Court of Bombay, Goa, claiming that there was no sufficient stakeholder consultation or debate prior to the start of the new school year.
