Pilerne: A newly developed futsal ground at Alto-Pilerne, under the Saligao constituency, was inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of prominent local leaders and community members. The facility was inaugurated by Saligao MLA and GSIDC Vice Chairman Kedar J. Naik, during the tenure of ZP Reis Magos representative Sandeep Bandodkar.
The event was graced by North Goa Zilla Panchayat President Dhaku Madkaikar, North Goa ZP CEO Dr. Ajay Gaude, ZP members Siddhesh Shripad Naik (Corlim) and Shankar Chodankar (Mayem), along with Pilerne Panchayat Sarpanch Reshma Bandodkar, Deputy Sarpanch Ajay Govekar, AO Devendra Arlekar, and several panchayat members from the Saligao constituency.
The newly constructed futsal ground aims to encourage sports among local youth and provide a professional-grade space for training and community tournaments. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots sporting infrastructure in the region.
During the ceremony, the gathering also marked the birthday of Deputy Sarpanch Ajay Govekar, who has played an active role in driving developmental projects within the constituency.
Speaking at the event, MLA Kedar Naik expressed that the new facility will significantly promote youth engagement in sports and nurture emerging talent. He added that such infrastructure projects not only encourage physical fitness but also foster teamwork, discipline, and a sporting culture within the community.
The futsal ground at Alto-Pilerne stands as another step toward enhancing recreational amenities in Saligao, supporting the vision of developing sports as a key component of local growth and youth empowerment.
