PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwjit Rane said that Spas and massage parlours operating in the coastal belt without following laid out rules and guidelines related to certification, space, trained staff etc will not be permitted to operate.
“Spas and massage parlours operating in the coastal belt without following laid out rules and guidelines related to certification, space, trained staff etc will not be permitted to operate, Amendment to this effect will be brought in the next assembly session”, said Rane.
Rane also said that those providing ayurvedic massages and medical treatments should have valid certificates.
“We see that people are running spas from small rooms. We will not grant permissions. Spas should be run as per the guidelines and with trained personnel,” he said.
Speaking further Rane said that the government will set up a PET scan facility at GMC Hospital in one or two months’ time.
“The said place has been identified to set up the facility. In general, PET scans are used to evaluate organs and tissues for the presence of disease or other conditions, however, the most common use of PET is in the detection of cancer and the evaluation of cancer treatment,” he added.
