PONDA: Goa Dairy plans to build a new milk processing facility at Usgao as part of its expansion plans. Following an inspection of the Goa Dairy Plant and a discussion with its personnel, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made this announcement in a media interaction. According to the Chief Minister, the new factory is an essential step in ensuring that the State’s dairy needs for the ensuing 50 years are met.
After a protracted period, Goa Dairy is apparently turning a profit and is being overseen by an administrator. According to CM Sawant, the lucrative operations under the current management have satisfied both the owners and the workforce. He attributed the turnaround to the hiring of an operational management team that has successfully overseen the dairy’s operations.
With backing from the Central government, the new factory at Usgao will supplement the current dairy facilities at Curti, which will stay open. In addition to processing milk, the new plant will also manufacture other dairy products.
Additional information regarding the new project was presented by Parag Nagarsekar, Chairman of the three-member Administrative Committee supervising Goa Dairy, in-charge MD Rama Parab, and member Sandeep Parsekar.
According to him, the new factory will allow Goa Dairy to offer milk to customers without the need for preservatives within 24 hours after procurement, guaranteeing that customers receive fresh, premium milk. Goa Dairy currently sells about 50,000 gallons of milk every day.
Nagarsekar also cited Goa Dairy’s innovative program, which accepts empty milk packets of any brand and gives back a half-litre milk packet. Furthermore, Goa Dairy provides students with a pleasant drink at Rs 10 by offering flavoured milk at a 50% discounted rate in support of educational institutions.
