CANACONA: Earnest determination was in full display at Agonda, as the newly elected Sarpanch owned up to the poor condition of PWD roads in the village and repaired them at their own costs on Wednesday.
Agonda Sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues and some panchas repaired a few village potholed streets on Wednesday.
‘The village roads in some areas have gone bad, with the appearance of huge potholes, virtually making the lives of motorists and villagers horrible. Seeing the conditions, We simply can’t wait to take the official route, but decided to act on our own and repaired in few of the areas’, informed Agonda Sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues, who herself was seen lifting rouble/stones to fill in the potholes, brought in their own vehicle.
Incidentally, residents blamed PWD for not attending nor trying to do away with appearances of huge potholes on Agonda-Khola MDR Road Near Agonda Stadium at Karashir-Moll, which late turned from bad to worst.
‘we don’t know whether PWD equipped with a Machinery to repair potholes will ever bring those services to Canacona, as we see not single potholes in the taluka are attended by PWD during monsoon’, alleged one of the punches.
The Sarpanch and the panch members also attended to repair an internal road on the way to the Southern side of the beach where life-Savers Tower is located and an upcoming Cyclone Warning Dissemination Tower heavily visited by locals/visitors and tourists alike.
