VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar expresses his apology looking at the new tarred main road washed off due to heavy rains. Salkar assured to re-tar the road once the rain stops, and only after the completion of the road work the bills of the road contractor will be cleared.
The newly asphalted main road from the Laxmi petrol pump to the Chicalim slope stretch has developed several bigger and smaller potholes.
This road has washed off due to the heavy and continuous rainfall in the Vasco area.
For a few days, commuters face hardships due to the rough road. Some locals have also taken it to the social media posting about the bad condition of the newly tarred road.
On Friday, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, along with his supporters, inspected the bad condition of the main road and assured to take up the repair works immediately.
MLA Salkar said, “I apologise to the people of Vasco seeing this bad condition of the newly tarred road. Yesterday I called the road constructor and asked him about the bad condition of this road. I learned that the newly asphalted road got washed away due to technical issues and continuous rainfall.”
He further said he had taken up this road tarrying work considering the hardships faced by the commuters.
“But seeing the road tar wash off, I am also feeling sorry and disappointed,” he said.
Although, Salkar assured that once the rain shower stops for a day or two, the asphalting work of the main road will be taken up immediately.
“Until the road work is completed fully this time, no bills will be cleared of the road contractor,’ Salkar said.
