Panaji: Collector (North Goa) and Chairman of the North Goa District Mineral Foundation Trust (NGDMFT), Ankit Yadav, chaired the 16th Governing Council Meeting of the Trust in the presence of Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Yesso Naik, MLA Premendra Shet and MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye, along with other Trustees.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed key proposals sanctioned by the NGDMFT worth over ₹22 crore. These projects focus on skill development, education, healthcare, rural development, animal husbandry and other welfare initiatives in mining-affected areas of North Goa.
The Governing Council also approved new proposals worth over ₹5.5 crore. These include flagship initiatives such as solarisation of all panchayats in the mining belt, procurement of IT equipment for aided schools in mining-affected regions, and desilting of agricultural lands to improve productivity.
The meeting was attended by ex-officio Member-Trustees of NGDMFT and representatives from various Government departments, who deliberated on measures to ensure effective implementation of projects for the overall development of mining-affected communities in North Goa.
