CANACONA: Canacona Police have registered a case against five persons and others for allegedly blocking National Highway-66 at Galgibag, Poinguinim, causing disruption to traffic movement.
According to the police, the complaint was lodged by PSI Shivram Gawas of Canacona Police Station, stating that on December 16, 2025, at around 2.30 pm, the accused persons—Janardhan Bhandari of Poinguinim, Gaspar of Palolem, Shubham Komarpant of Colomb, Grathik Pagi of Talpona and Mohandas Loliyekar of Canacona, along with others—assembled unlawfully on NH-66 at Ganebhag, Galgibag, Poinguinim.
The accused allegedly formed an unlawful assembly with a common object and blocked both lanes of the national highway by placing tree branches and a metal pole across the road. This act resulted in the obstruction of vehicular movement and wrongful restraint of regular traffic on the busy highway, the complaint states.
Following the incident, Canacona Police registered an offence and initiated an investigation. Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Ajit Velip of Canacona Police Station.
Police have said necessary legal action will be taken against all those found involved in the incident.
