ANJUNA: Anjuna Police arrested a 44-year-old Nigerian national after allegedly finding him in possession of cocaine worth nearly ₹98,000 during a late-night operation in Siolim, Bardez.
According to police, Crime No. 03/2026 was registered at Anjuna Police Station under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985, on the state complaint of PSI Nitesh Shingadi.
Acting on specific and reliable information, police conducted a search between 2.00 am and 4.30 am on January 20 near Casa Juliana Guest House at Ingrez Wado, Siolim.
During the operation, a blue Fascino scooter bearing registration number GA-03-AU-8716, ridden by the accused, was intercepted and searched. Police recovered 9.73 grams of a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, estimated to be worth approximately ₹98,000, from his illegal possession.
The accused has been identified as Onuengbu Uche Justus, son of Onwuzuruike Jeff O, a Nigerian national residing in Siolim, Bardez, as disclosed by him.
The suspected narcotic substance along with other exhibits was seized under a search and seizure panchanama.
The accused was arrested at 5.50 am on January 20 and is currently in police custody. Police stated that all Supreme Court guidelines were duly followed during the search and arrest.
Considering the gravity of the offence, an express report has been submitted. The Police Inspector, FRRO Panaji, has been requested to inform the relatives of the accused about his arrest through the concerned embassy. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Nitesh Shingadi.
