PERNEM: Pernem Police arrested a Nigerian national on Tuesday for allegedly possessing narcotic substances valued at around ₹1.2 lakh.
According to police, on October 14, 2025, while on patrolling duty, Pernem Police received specific and reliable information that a Nigerian national would be delivering narcotic substances to a prospective customer at Mahakhajan, Dhargal. Acting on the tip-off, a dedicated police team was formed and rushed to the location.
On spotting the police, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the alert team. The accused, identified as Ugochukwu Solomon Ubabuko (43), was found in possession of 3 grams of Ecstasy and 61 grams of Ganja concealed in the dickey of his Yamaha Ray scooter. The seized narcotics and the scooter, together valued at approximately ₹1,20,000, were taken into custody.
Police further revealed that the accused has a history of multiple arrests in narcotics and immigration-related cases by ANC (2024), Calangute Police (2009 & 2012), Crime Branch (2024), Anjuna Police (August 2025), Hyderabad City Police (2016), and Bengaluru City Police (2015).
The raid was conducted by a team led by PI Sachin Lokre, assisted by PSI Vivek Halarnkar, PSI Pravin Simepurushkar, and constables Krishna Velip, Sachin Halarnkar, Sagar Khorjuvekar, Rushikesh Parsekar, Mahadev Kerkar, Rupesh Shivji, and Sashank Sakhalkar.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Pravin Simepurushkar under the supervision of PI Sachin Lokre.
