CANACONA: It’s a double gift to the panch of Bhavalkhan, as Nilesh Gokuldas Pagi is elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Agonda village panchayat.
Incidentally, Nilesh is celebrating his birthday today, and as soon as the Presiding Officer Sushant Lolienkar declared Nilesh G Pagui elected unopposed, in the presence of all the four other supporting panchas and presiding officer, VP Agonda Secretary Amol K Naikgaonkar Nilesh cut his birthday cake followed by birthday song.
Nilesh has become the third sarpanch of the current panchayat term after Igrej-Val ward panch Fatima Rodrigues and Parvem Panch Prettal Fernandes occupied the sarpanch chair.
Incidentally, while panchas Ramnath Velip, Dy. Sarpanch Karuna Phaldessai, Canisha Fernandes and Fatima Rodrigues attended the special meeting presided by Canacona BDO representative Extension Officer Sushant Lolienkar and VP Secretary Amol K Naikgaonkar, ex-sarpanch and panch Prettal Fernandes and Mirandawada panch John Fernandes were conspicuous by their absence.
Dozens were people mostly supporters and followers, including former sarpanchas Badal Naik Gaonkar and Barsat Naikgaunkar of newly elected Sarpanch Nilesh Pagi lined up to extend wishes on being unanimously elected sarpanch and Birthday.
