CUNCOLIM: A daring theft was reported at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Cuncolim, after two unidentified persons allegedly entered the campus and stole laptops and other valuables from the boys’ hostel.
According to a complaint lodged by Erramshetty Mallikarjun, Chief Warden of NIT Cuncolim, the incident took place at around 11 am on January 12. The accused reportedly entered the NIT campus through the main gate in a Swift Dzire car and proceeded to the boys’ hostel, where they gained access to several rooms.
The duo allegedly made away with nine laptops of different models valued at ₹6,48,630, a Truke Mega earphone worth ₹1,099 and a trolley skybag valued at ₹4,000. The total loss has been estimated at ₹6,53,729.
After committing the theft, the accused fled the campus along with the stolen property.
Cuncolim police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Riyanka Naik of Cuncolim Police Station.
