PANAJI: Sporting Club Davorlim pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over United Boys of Ambaulim to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the 27th Holy Cross Inter-Village Football Tournament. The tournament is being hosted by Guardian Angel SC in collaboration with Holy Cross SC at the Vodlem Moll ground in Kakoda.
Despite being reduced to just nine players, Sporting Club Davorlim showcased exceptional grit and tactical discipline to hold off a dominant UB Ambaulim side. From the onset, UB Ambaulim enjoyed greater possession and attacking opportunities, but Davorlim’s tight marking and resolute defending kept their opponents at bay.
The standout performance came from Davorlim’s goalkeeper, who pulled off a series of outstanding saves to maintain a clean sheet and frustrate the Ambaulim attack.
The match-winner came in the 45th minute when Vellroy Colaco of Sporting Club Davorlim found the back of the net with a decisive strike, sealing a memorable win for his side under challenging circumstances.
With this hard-fought victory, SC Davorlim march into the quarter-finals, proving that determination and teamwork can overcome even the toughest odds.
