Panaji: In a significant boost to Goa’s economic landscape, the Goa Investment Promotion Board (IPB) approved nine new projects on February 12, 2025, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
These projects, valued at ₹733 crores, are expected to generate employment for 2,319 individuals and further solidify Goa’s position as a favourable business destination.
The approved projects span various sectors, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, warehousing, machine tools manufacturing, and beverage production. A key highlight is the expansion plan by Procter & Gamble through its subsidiary, Gillette Diversified Operations Pvt. Ltd., which will introduce a new product line for multivitamins and food-grade soft gel capsules with an investment of ₹320 crores.
Zydus Lifesciences Ltd. also received approval for a new manufacturing unit to produce Repsules, underscoring the state’s attractiveness to multinational companies.
Both Procter & Gamble and Zydus Lifesciences have chosen Goa over other global locations, reflecting the state’s improving ease of doing business and export competitiveness. The Chief Minister and the Industries Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that a maximum number of jobs created through these projects are offered to local residents. Industry association representatives were encouraged to collaborate with government agencies to skill and upskill Goans.
In addition to these manufacturing projects, the IPB approved a large warehousing facility by Express Machines and Scaffolding Pvt. Ltd., following the recent grant of industry status to the logistics sector. An eco-tourism project in Quepem, operated by Indian Hotels Corporation Ltd. under the ama Trails portfolio, was also granted approval for expansion, highlighting Goa’s dual appeal as both an industrial and tourism hub.
The state’s focus on infrastructure development was further reinforced by the allocation of ₹100 crore for upgrading industrial estates, including the use of white topping technology for internal roads and the organization of AI workshops for MSMEs, as announced by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation.
