MARGAO: The Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication has directed all departments and agencies to stop any kind of digging, trenching, or road-cutting works along major Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) routes in South Goa from September 26 until 12:30 pm on September 27, 2025.
The department has cautioned that any such activity could cause serious disruption to the telecom network, resulting in a breakdown of essential communication facilities required for the Prime Minister’s 4G Inauguration Programme.
The order applies to the Public Works Department, Electricity, Water Supply, Sewerage, Gas Pipeline agencies, Municipalities, Panchayats, Telecom/ISP Operators, and private contractors.
Authorities have been asked to strictly enforce the directions and ensure that no excavation work is undertaken during the specified period. Any violation of the order will be viewed seriously.
