New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has assured that fuel supplies across India remain stable and adequate, dismissing rumours of petrol and diesel shortages circulating in some areas. The state run oil marketing company urged citizens not to panic buy fuel or rely on unverified information.
In a public advisory issued on Wednesday, BPCL stated that its operations are running normally and that supply chains for fuel distribution are functioning smoothly across the country. The company described reports of shortages in certain locations as completely unfounded.
According to the advisory, India currently maintains sufficient reserves of crude oil as well as refined products including petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel. BPCL also noted that the country is a net exporter of petrol and diesel, indicating that overall fuel availability remains comfortable.
The company emphasised that it is fully committed to ensuring uninterrupted supply at fuel stations and maintaining steady availability of petroleum products nationwide. Citizens were encouraged to remain calm and avoid unnecessary purchases that could create temporary pressure at retail outlets.
The clarification comes amid growing public concern about global energy supply disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia. Shipping through the strategic Strait of Hormuz has faced disruptions in recent weeks, while fluctuations in global crude oil prices have heightened worries about possible shortages.
In the past few days, social media posts and isolated reports about fuel scarcity led to panic buying in some regions. Oil marketing companies have since stepped in to reassure consumers that supplies remain stable.
BPCL reiterated that India’s fuel distribution network continues to operate efficiently and that adequate stocks are available to meet demand despite the uncertain global situation.
