PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the Legislative Assembly that there is no connection between the Goa government and the alleged cash-for-job scam, asserting that allegations against the government and its officers are baseless.
The Chief Minister said the accused, Pooja Naik, is the main culprit in the case and claimed she collected around ₹17 crore from job aspirants by making false promises of government employment.
He informed the House that Naik spent the money lavishly on herself, purchasing multiple properties and flats, owning four cars, undertaking foreign tours, and parking funds in various accounts. Assets worth about ₹4 crore have been seized, and the accused is currently behind bars.
Sawant stressed that no one would be spared, whether linked to government departments or private hiring processes. He urged people to stop paying bribes for government jobs, stating that the government has no role in such rackets.
The Chief Minister also blamed people for falling prey to false promises of jobs, adding that it has become routine to drag ministers or government officials into allegations without evidence.
