PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today declared that from this academic year onwards, no school in Goa will be left with only one teacher, with the government set to provide additional staff across the state’s 700 government and aided schools.
Highlighting that Goa is at the forefront of implementing the National Education Policy (NEP), Dr. Sawant said the focus is shifting from traditional methods to panch nyandriya (five-sensory) learning, with all schools equipped with computers and teachers trained to deliver innovative education.
He emphasized cyber education as a core priority to prepare students as future nation-builders.
Noting the rising preference for English-medium unaided schools, the Chief Minister pointed out that government-run Marathi and Konkani schools also have trained English teachers.
He appealed to parents to support local language institutions, arguing that education in Marathi and Konkani can offer equally strong career prospects.
Dr. Sawant was speaking at the 63rd Teachers’ Day celebration at Kala Academy, where he presented the CM-Vashistha Guru Puraskar 2023–24 to 10 distinguished educators for excellence in the teaching profession.
