PANAJI: The Directorate of Women and Child, from August, will initiate refund/recovery of the Griha Aadhaar Scheme from the spouses of government servants who have enjoyed the scheme’s benefits.
A married woman whose spouse is a regular employee with the government department or its corporation /autonomous bodies is excluded from availing of the Griha Aadhar scheme.
The State government had amended BJP’s flagship scheme wherein several thousand eligible women are given a monthly dole of Rs 1,500.
“This office is in receipt of above-referred letters from the Directorate of Women & Child Development, Panaji, regarding refund/recovery of Griha Aadhar Scheme benefit taken by the spouses of the below-mentioned officials working in the offices,” said DWCD order.
Further, the Dy. Director (Administration). Directorate of Women & Child Development, Panaji, has requested to fix the instalment considering the above employees’ financial stability, deduct the amount from their salaries, and remit the same to their demand.
The WCD department has written to government departs requesting to take the willingness from the concerned official working under your control and fix the instalment as per their convenience and start the recoveries of Griha Aadhar Scheme benefit taken by their spouses, with effect from August 2022 onwards.
“Maintain a record of recoveries till the entire amount is recovered and report the same to Directorate of Women & Child, Panaji-Goa,” the letter states.
In the fresh amendment, a widow or a divorcee having a gross income not exceeding Rs 3 lakh per annum will be eligible for availing of the benefit. The previous cap for this category was Rs 1.50 lakh per annum.
