New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation has assured consumers that prices of regular petrol and diesel remain unchanged across India despite a sharp surge in global crude oil prices.
The clarification comes after the state run oil marketing company announced a limited price revision for premium petrol XP95 petrol, increasing its price by ₹2 per litre. The company emphasised that the adjustment affects only a small segment of fuel consumption since premium petrol accounts for a relatively minor share compared to regular petrol and diesel.
In a public statement, the company highlighted that international crude prices have climbed significantly in recent days, rising from around $71 per barrel to nearly $156 per barrel. Despite this steep increase, retail prices of regular automotive fuels in India have been kept stable.
The company said maintaining price stability during periods of global volatility remains a priority, noting that steady domestic fuel rates are important for consumers and the broader economy.
Officials also assured that fuel supply across the country remains uninterrupted. The company reiterated its focus on ensuring consistent availability while balancing pricing decisions during evolving global market conditions.
The price revision comes at a time when oil markets are experiencing heightened volatility due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has disrupted global supply chains and pushed crude prices higher.
By keeping the retail prices of regular petrol and diesel unchanged, state run oil companies in India appear to be absorbing part of the global price shock. The move is aimed at protecting domestic consumers from sudden price spikes while the international energy market continues to face uncertainty.
