Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has informed the Goa Legislative Assembly that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has raised no major audit objections against the state government over the last three financial years.
Replying to an Unstarred LAQ tabled by Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas, Dr. Sawant, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said that no financial irregularities or audit objections were raised by the CAG for departments under the administrative purview of the Finance Department.
However, he admitted that a single case of misappropriation was reported in the Excise Department, and an inquiry is currently underway. “The concerned officials have been placed under suspension,” the reply stated.
For other departments, the Chief Minister confirmed that no financial irregularities or cases of misappropriation had been reported during the review period.
