Panaji: The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has clarified that his government has not received any formal communication from the Centre or the Ministry of Power regarding the feasibility of setting up a nuclear power plant in the state, despite recent remarks by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
In a written reply to a Starred Question by MLA Viresh Borkar, Power Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar stated that no feasibility studies, site identification, or consultations with technical or environmental bodies have been undertaken in this regard. He also confirmed that no public consultations have been held or proposed since the matter is not under consideration at present.
Responding to a related query, the government listed ongoing proposals for renewable energy projects instead. These include a 100 MW decentralized wind power project across various locations by JVS Comatso Industries Pvt. Ltd., a 300 MW solar power plant with battery energy storage by NTPC Green Energy Ltd., and a 197 MW floating solar power project across four dams in the state by SJVN Green Energy Ltd.
