PONDA: Three years after the closure of crushing season Government now wants Voluntary Retirement from Service for employees of Sanjivani Sugar Factory.
There are currently 177 workers in Sanjeevan, of which 28 are contract workers, and 99 are permanent workers.
The Government has issued a notification regarding giving a voluntary retirement scheme to workers of Sanjeevani Cooperative Sugar Factory, and the letter regarding this has been sent by Director of Agriculture Neville Alphonso to the administrator of Sanjeevani Cooperative Sugar Factory at Sanjeevaninagar- Dharbandora.
It is learnt that funds for salary and operating expenditure payments are released to Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd under the scheme “Financial Assistance to the Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd.” As per the notification, the scheme was valid for three years. The scheme will complete three financial years by March 2023.
The proposal was submitted to Government for approval to extend the scheme period for further two years. However, the Finance (Expenditure) Department has turned down the above proposal.
The Finance Department has told to take immediate steps to implement VRS to all employees of Sanjivani Co-op Society and seek funds for final settlement.
In view of the Finance Department’s remarks, Alphonso requested Factory’s administrator to take immediate action to give VRS to all employees of Sugar Factory.
It may be recalled that a few years back Government, after the closure of the sugar factory crushing season, had earlier announced to accommodate all the workers of Sanjivani in the proposed ethanol project at Sanjivani and that the ethanol project on PP Mode is likely to get ready in monsoon.
