The State government has turned down the demands of the Zuarinagar for removal of containment zone from the area.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at Paryatan Bhavan at Panjim, which was attended by South Goa Collector, Dy Collector, health Secretary and MLA Alina Saldanha.
The meeting discussed the people’s demands and decided that containment zone cannot be lifted as per the SOP of the central government.
“The relaxations can be given only 14 days after the last positive case reported or all test negative,” sources said.
Also, the Chief Minister refused to grant permission for people to move out.
However, directions were issued to Dy Collector for timely supply of essential commodities and groceries.
About testing, the Health Secretary said that Zuarinagar health centre is open for all and those who wish can get tested.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant also impressed upon the Police authority the need to maintain social distancing and requested the Police to ensure that law and order is strictly maintained within the Containment Zone.
