Panaji: There seems to be no respite for the tourism industry coming anywhere soon as the charters are being delayed due to strict SOPs in wake of COVID-19 pandemic by UK government.
The UK based travel agency TUI has written to its hotel partners that charters cannot land before December.
“As we are all aware, the COVID-19 virus continues to have an unprecedented impact across the globe on people’s lives, the global economy as well as on our industry. Unfortunately, as a result of the UK Government travel restrictions to India we have been forced to suspend our programme to your destination. Even now, after weeks and months, sadly, there is still no sign of a relaxation which would allow TUI UK to resume operations to Goa in the immediate future,” Helen Caron
Group Purchase Director said.
Therefore, the TUI UK further writes they have cancelled their package travel programmes to Goa up to and including 18th December 2020.
“The health and safety of our customers and colleagues is always our highest priority, and we will continue to closely monitor the situation regarding future departures, whilst working with the UK Government in relation to future travel advice and the development of rates of infection in India,” TUI UK said.
“I am truly sorry we have had to cancel holidays from the UK and sincerely hope that the situation improves so that we can start our programme to Goa as soon as possible. I will keep you updated, and would like to thank you once again for your incredible support and resilience through these most difficult times,” it says.
