PANAJI: It is shocking that the Transport Department is not getting any revenue from the Tankers operating in Goa. Documents reveal that Transport Department has no data on Vehicles used for Commercial purposes in Goa. This proves that BJP Government is promoting Tanker and Commercial Vehicle Mafia in Goa with zero revenue to State, charged Congress President Amit Patkar.
Congress Party today barged into the Department of Transport and grilled the Director Rajan Satardekar over his complete failure to act against the Water Tanker transporting Sewage. They also quizzed him over rising Fatal Accidents in the State. Two Memorandums were submitted to the Director of Transport demanding Action on Illegal Tanker Operations and controlling Road Accidents in Goa.
Transport Department has given replies to Goa Legislative Assembly stating that only 26 two-wheelers used for Commercial Purposes are operating in Goa. This means Government is not aware of other vehicles, he stated.
The Transport Director clearly admitted that his Department had not taken any Action on the Water Tanker which was caught by the Public while transporting Sewage. He has now assured us to act, stated Amit Patkar.
Government has no plan of Action to control the Fatal Accidents in Goa. The Director of Transport said that they will commission artificial Intelligence Signals to control Accidents in Goa. The fate of the Artificial Intelligence Signal installed at Merces is known to all. The said Signal is creating a chaotic situation at the Junction, pointed out Amit Patkar.
“We once again demand a High-Level Inquiry under Retired High Court Judge to investigate the massive loss of revenue to the Government and also the operations of Tanker Mafia in the State,” demanded Amit Patkar.
