PANAJI: The District Collector of North Goa Ankit Yadav, IAS, presided over a meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) under the Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006, to review and decide on pending claims.
A total of 149 claims were placed before the committee. Of these, 40 claims from Maloli village were rejected following requests for withdrawal by the applicants.
Another 29 claims from Maloli were turned down as the land in question falls under areas cultivated by the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC).
The committee approved 6 claims from Golaulim village, 15 claims from Codal village, and 58 claims from Derodem village. One additional claim was referred to the Forest Department for further clarification.
The meeting aimed at ensuring timely disposal of claims and addressing pending matters under the provisions of the FRA, 2006.
