MAPUSA: Collector (North Goa) Ankit Yadav on Monday chaired a review meeting with officials and stakeholders to assess infrastructural works and arrangements for the upcoming Shirgao Jatra scheduled on April 21, 2026.
The meeting was attended by Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, SP (North Goa) Harishchandra Madkaikar, SP Traffic Prabodh Shirvaikar, Deputy Collector (Bicholim), SDPO (Bicholim), temple committee representatives, and officials from PWD, Electricity Department, panchayat, excise, and fire & emergency services.
During the review, officials discussed crowd management strategy, police deployment, setting up of a control room, installation of CCTV cameras and public announcement systems, barricading, traffic route planning, and illumination along the jatra routes. Clear timelines were fixed to ensure smooth and orderly conduct of the event.
The Collector directed all line departments to complete the required works by April 10 and instructed authorities to conduct a mock drill ahead of the jatra to test preparedness and coordination among agencies.
Officials stated that coordinated planning and timely execution will help ensure safety, efficient traffic movement, and proper management of devotees expected to attend the annual jatra.
