MAPUSA: In a significant blow to the illicit drug trade, the North Goa District Police have booked 10 cases under the NDPS Act since the beginning of 2025 at various Police Stations against accused persons involving 04 Goans, 05 Non-Goans & 01 Foreigner.
The Police have seized substantial quantities of narcotics including Charas 204 gram, Ganja 9849 grams and MDMA 25 grams.
The total value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs. 13,69,000/-.
The latest two cases were registered today i.e. on 31.01.2025 by Mapusa Police Station and Calangute Police Station.
The Mapusa Police Station registered a case under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) & 29 of NDPS Act 1985 against accused Sukha Masaka Majhi, aged 29 years and Chandan Chaitanya Sethi, aged 23 years.
The Police conducted a narcotic raid at the Parking Lot Madani, Parra, Bardez, Goa and seized 3.500 kg of suspected Ganja worth Rs. 3 lakhs.
Both accused have been arrested and are currently in Police custody at Mapusa Police Station.
The Calangute Police Station registered a case under Section 22(c) of NDPS Act 1985, against accused Akhil Mhalasekar, aged 24 years.
The Police conducted a raid near the Gas Station, Naikawado, Calangute, Bardez-Goa and seized 25 grams of suspected MDMA worth Rs. 2,50,000/-.
The accused has been arrested and is currently in Police custody at Calangute Police Station.
The North Goa District Police efforts to combat drug trafficking are a testament to their commitment to keeping the community safe.
These successes are a result of tireless efforts by the Police teams, led by PI Nikhil Palekar, PI Paresh Naik, and under the guidance of SDPO’s Sandesh Chodankar and Vishwesh Karpe and the overall supervision of SP North Goa, Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
