Colvale, Goa: In a shocking revelation, sources have claimed that as many as 18 balls of ganja were allegedly dropped into the Colvale Central Jail premises — not seven, as initially reported. According to insiders, the heavier packets managed to make it inside the jail compound, while the lighter ones fell outside and were recovered by an alert on-duty police officer.
The smuggling attempt reportedly didn’t stop at narcotics. Sources allege that bottles of alcohol, including cashew feni and rum, were also smuggled into the jail, along with tobacco products and soft drinks.
The contraband is believed to have been intended for inmates, particularly those accused in the high-profile Ahmed Devdi murder case. The incident has raised serious questions about security and internal vigilance at the high-security prison. An official confirmation is awaited.
